Mentors: Joey Calderazzo, Danilo Pérez • Studied with Jason Rebello • Accepted to New England Conservatory
Tommy Scott is a Paris-based jazz pianist and composer whose trio blends lyric melody with cinematic harmony and elastic rhythm. Raised in the UK, he studied with Jason Rebello and was mentored by Joey Calderazzo and Danilo Pérez; early recognition led to acceptance at the New England Conservatory. Now in France, Tommy performs widely in trio and collaborative settings and composes music shaped by European color and American pulse. His debut album Going For It showcases interactive trio writing and live-in-the-room energy. Available for concerts, festivals, residencies, and workshops.
Born into a musical family in the Welsh mountains, Tommy Scott moved from classical training to improvisation early, drawn to melody and narrative. He studied with Jason Rebello and received guidance from Joey Calderazzo and Danilo Pérez, experiences that shaped his focus on touch, tone, and conversation at the piano. By sixteen he was leading bands and attracting media attention; the following year he was accepted by the New England Conservatory in Boston.
Based in Paris, Tommy leads a modern-jazz piano-bass-drums trio that favors clear themes, open forms, and the kind of listening that lets a tune breathe. His writing mixes lyrical lines with harmonic color and rhythmic motion—think song form meeting European timbre and an American engine.
Recent work includes collaborations with French and international artists and the trio album Going For It, recorded live in the studio with minimal edits. Performances span clubs, concert halls, and festivals across the UK and Europe, alongside educational projects and workshops on improvisation and ensemble interaction.
Tommy’s music aims for clarity without simplicity: memorable motifs, cinematic harmony, and momentum you can feel in the room.

Before moving to Paris, I wanted a trio that could breathe like chamber music and hit like a band. We recorded Going For It in a single day at Fieldgate, live in the room with minimal edits—leaning into first takes, conversation, and risk. The tunes trace a line from resolve (“Pushing the Boundaries”) to release (“Goodbye Treadmill”). It’s about momentum: choosing forward motion when comfort whispers “maybe later.”
Composed by: Tommy Scott
Performed by: Tommy Scott (piano), Yuri Goloubev (double bass), Asaf Sirkis (drums)

Born into a musical family in the Welsh mountains and classically trained from childhood, Tommy Scott studied with the legendary Jason Rebello (Sting, Jeff Beck). Encouraged by mentors Joey Calderazzo and Danilo Perez, he quickly gained a reputation as a prodigious jazz pianist in the west of England. By 16 he was leading his own band at festivals and drawing media attention; the following year he was accepted by the New England Conservatory in Boston.Tommy’s performances are noted for melodic clarity, emotional depth, and a dynamic, narrative approach at the piano. His language draws on the symphonic spirit of Sibelius, the soulful funk and blues of Herbie Hancock, the explorations of Wayne Shorter, the jazz‑rock drive of McCoy Tyner, and the Latin inflections of Danilo Pérez. He has toured widely across the UK and Europe as both a bandleader and sideman, sharing stages and studios with artists including Jean Toussaint, Brandon Allen, Gene Calderazzo, Alex Hitchcock, Karl Vanden Bossche, Misha Mullov‑Abbado, Damon Brown, Dave O’Higgins, Quentin Collins, Rob Luft, Tom Ollendorff, Paul Booth, David Sausay, Benjamin Henocq, Pierre Marcus, Jesus Vega, and Gaël Horellou.

“Dynamic and startling pianist” – Southbank Magazine
Born into a musical family in the Welsh mountains, Tommy Scott began classical piano studies in early childhood before turning toward jazz under the mentorship of the acclaimed Jason Rebello (Sting, Jeff Beck). By sixteen, he was leading his own bands at festivals across the west of England and attracting attention from the British jazz press for his prodigious command of the piano. The following year, he was accepted into the prestigious New England Conservatory in Boston, where exposure to mentors such as Joey Calderazzo and Danilo Pérez helped shape his expansive, narrative approach to improvisation.Tommy’s music is distinguished by its melodic clarity, emotional depth, and symphonic sense of structure. His language draws freely from diverse sources: the harmonic colors of Sibelius, the soulful grooves of Herbie Hancock, the explorations of Wayne Shorter, the rhythmic power of McCoy Tyner, and the Latin energy of Danilo Pérez. The result is a sound that is both intricate and accessible — at once cerebral and deeply human. He has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe as both bandleader and sideman, sharing stages with Jean Toussaint, Gene Calderazzo, Alex Hitchcock, Rob Luft, and Gaël Horellou, among many others. His performances have been described as “dynamic and startling” (Southbank Magazine) and “astonishing” (Jazz Review). His debut album was hailed as “remarkable and needs to be heard” (London Jazz News). Now based in Paris, Tommy is developing a new trio project and album of original compositions — a collection that explores imagination, emotion, and psychological landscapes through sound. His current performances reflect a synthesis of introspection and energy, inviting listeners into a cinematic world of rhythm and reflection.
